Dubai World Central a draw card for MICE tourism

Jesdev Saggar, Managing Director, Infrastructure & Capital Projects Middle East & North Africa at Deloitte, said that along with MICE tourism office space in Dubai World Central was likely see a sharp development as “all the asset classes will try and go near” the airport. F&E Aerospace have already seen the benefit having permanently relocated the Dubai Airshow to its purpose built venue in Dubai World Central. “The move to the new venue coincides particularly well with the move to Dubai World Central as the exhibition space and footprint will now total 645,000 square metres, making it more than double the size of the old site,” F&E Aerospace Chief Executive Officer, Sharief Fahmy stated in an email. Fahmy said the ideal location poised Dubai World Central and its new exhibition centre to further expand the city with retail, commercial, and hospitality opportunities. Al Maktoum International located in Dubai World central is also set to lift Dubai’s tourism portfolio as the emirate attracts more mid-market visitors. The new airport will have a dedicated low-cost carrier terminal and with budget airlines Wizz Air and Jazeera Airways the launch carriers – Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is looking to this market to reach its 20 million visitors a year by 2020 target. “With an increased portfolio of three and four star hotels as well as the second airport opening further routes to Dubai from Central and Eastern Europe … we look forward to increasing visitors from this region.
